About Little Eyes International
Little Eyes International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Arizona. As pediatric eye care providers, our goal is to deliver optical, clinical, and surgical eye care services to underserved children in both Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. Our mission is to prevent and treat childhood blindness for patients of all socioeconomic backgrounds.
Little Eyes International was founded in July 2021 by pediatric ophthalmologists Dr. Laura Kueny and Dr. Patrick Burke. In 2019, Dr. Kueny and Dr. Burke began volunteering with a Lions Club mobile unit to reach children in rural Arizona and provide free eye care services. Unfortunately, this program was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, access to pediatric ophthalmology in Arizona was limited to just two cities: Tucson and Phoenix. The pandemic also created additional barriers for families in Mexico who relied on crossing the border for medical care. As a result, many families were left without access to treatment or faced significant travel burdens to receive care.
In September 2021, Little Eyes International partnered with Rocky Point Medical Center in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico. Through this collaboration, the organization has provided pediatric eye clinics, vision screenings, and free prescription eyeglasses to children in need.
In June 2025, Little Eyes International expanded its impact by partnering with Dr. Josh Leonard of Complete Vision Care to deliver mobile pediatric eye clinics across Arizona, increasing access for uninsured and underinsured students.
At Little Eyes International, we are committed to expanding access to pediatric eye care because every child deserves to see clearly.
